University - What to do next?

Whether you're my age or slightly younger you will know that the stresses of applying for university are starting to kick in. So whether your in England or are reading this from America or Asia this is a handy little guide that I've put together to help you with "What to do next?".
(Disclaimer - I am not a pro at this I have only done it once and it could be wrong but its just a guide of what I'm personally doing and I hope that it can help)

My Guide -
Application - Even though the UCAS deadline is over I am unsure as to other countries. So if your
application isn't done I suggest you just get it over and done with. Universities appreciate your application when it's early as they understand your want to go to university and that you are competent and organised enough to send it in early.

Personal Statement - Believe it or not I wrote 12 different drafts before I came to my final product. Don't worry you'll get there in the end but please just make sure you are happy with it and that you think it reflects your personality, skills and love for the subject.

Student Finance - For UK students we apply for our student finance through the gov.uk (link) and this application will direct you to DirectGov where you will be asked to create an account to complete your application and gain your student finance. This application will cover the entirety of the costs based on your eligibility. For example tuition loans are usually around £9,000 and then maintenance loans are based on how much your parents/guardians earn. This can be a very lengthily process so just take your time and do it with your parents/guardian.

Making your firm choice and insurance choice - For uk students you will know that the application process has been made on UCAS. When you have heard from all of your universities this is the time when you choose your choices. Think about what's best for you and if you need any advise ask someone for their opinion it always helps.

Accommodation - This will have to be completed after your application has been sent and you have confirmed your firm choice and your insurance choice. Your two universities will send you an email on when you can apply. Make sure that if you haven't visited one of your universities that you go to an applicant day and have a look at their accommodation to see which one suits you best. Then follow the steps you are given and apply

This is fairly short and sweet, and may not apply to all of you but it is helpful if you need it. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me below or even ask one of your teachers as they will help probably more than me. Don't forget to follow so you can see all my upcoming posts and to learn when they are going to be, follow me on twitter @Emily_Greaves. Hope you enjoyed ready and speak soon, Bye!
